I often hear complaints from my patients about issues such as closed waiting lists for appointments with specialists and/or diagnostic exams and tests. In the recent meeting with the population in Valsamoggia on November 30th, 2025, I had the opportunity to remind my fellow citizens of our rights as patients, as outlined in the DPCM 12 Gennaio 2017, which sets the maximum waiting times as part of the "Livelli Essenziali di Assistenza", as well as the Decreto Legislativo 124/1998, that makes provisions for the citizen to be reimbursed by the ASL if it cannot provide the prescribed service within the maximum waiting times that the Law allows. In such a case, the citizen has the right to seek the required medical service privately or in Intramoenia, paying only the ticket price, if owed, and receive reimbursement for the difference.
